Warm Water Species Florida Report

Postby upstatetrout » Thu Feb 11, 2010 7:04 pm

As I waxed my truck yesterday, I decided to go fishing today. I had heard of this town called Tarpon Springs. I checked on the map and noticed it was on Lake Tarpon. Decided to go there as I have always been in favor of the scientific approach. Martha and I headed out around noon right after breakfast. We found a cove in the town of Tarpon Springs and pulled into the parking lot. We decided to observe the water while sitting in the truck as it was only 55 degrees today. After observing for a while, I noticed a huge boil. I immediately rigged up and headed out onto the cement sidewalk that surrounded the cove in the park on Lake Tarpon where we were parked. Despite repeated casts with rises all around me, I was skunked. Am sitting here now typing this and trying to decide what I should tie (suggestions welcome) as I have come to the conclusion that you can't catch a manatee on a dry fly.
