Re: Stonfo Transformer Q:

Hey Jay, I collect vises and I have a have a transformer, there is no play at the connection, its solid. In my opinion it does not hold a hook as well as my renzetti but it does the job. Its very similar to the renzetti master in design and overall a high quality very cool vise. Hope that helps! Mike

Re: Blotter Paper

Its sometimes cheaper to buy 4 small ones and carefully tape them together to make a large one. If you spill a beer on it you can cut and replace ...

Re: Hackle Gauges

I agree it's not a must to use one but I do everytime as it doesn't take that long and it makes my flies consistent. I also always measure both sides of the hackle because sometimes they are dramatically different. I use a dette/solomon gauge go a size up for the hacke and a another size up for wing...

Re: Older Orvis Vise Question

Their is also a true rotary version that I don't have but have seen on Ebay from time to time. Its also in Tom Rosenbauer's beginning fly tying book that has been out for many years. I love collecting lever collet vises like this old orvis, HMH, AK's etc. but I just can't stray from the easy of use ...
