Re: Advice
For what it's worth, Dennis, you might want to consider replacing the chipped cast iron jaws with the newer stainless steel ones. I did this several years ago and have not regretted it. Me too. Love the stainless jaws. A super decision. Really, they're all I need for trouty stuff but I have a back-...

Re: Deep thinkers only
John, I'll keep this brief cuz I'm the simple-minded shallow sort. *silly/winky/smiley thingy here... Per the chit-chat mid Sept. this year, I'll have to agree with you on the "slight" movement that is significant. Coupled with the proper profile I think it's a killer, if you can describe any trout ...

Re: thinking about purchasing a bamboo rod
Gene, you likely don't want anymore direction but just in case...Jim Bresko has been fair and straight with me and has a nice selection of used rods. Plus he'll give you an honest assessment if you talk with him. Not pushy at all and if you don't like a particular rod he'll gladly take it back. Hit ...

Thanks John. I feel pretty lucky to maybe know of where you speak...
It's going to be a long winter, maybe made a bit shorter by a rod or two. And I need to get to that selling site!!

Re: Topic for Ted P--- & everyone else: strike indicators
Ed, Not that anyone's going to take this bumbler fisherboy's example to heart but I'll share a tid-bit that makes my fishing more enjoyable when I go down under. I hate "bobbers" but have been known to use them when needed before changing over to furled leaders some years back. They would always be ...

Re: Fishing for largemouth in the lilypads
Okay, with apologies for coming to this party waaaay late... I just got to reading around and found this. To the O.P.'ers questions, yeah there is a nice weedless topwater that happens to be a fav. of mine, the Dahlburg Diver. Deer hair is an aweful mess but whatcha gonna do? http://img.photobucket....

Dubbing stuffs!
You know, I haven't added much to this forum and I've been reading around a good bit. In going over my multitude (*eye-roll*) of saved links for the average tier like me I thought I'd add a link that has been pretty helpful for me. Most of you here may not get as much out of it as I did -still do - ...

Good Lord and on water that clean and clear!! Amazing hunt you went on Mike. Congrats all around. I know only a few guys like you and I feel this pull in changing my ways. I might have to get more serious. Always loved the topside stuff but I'll admit to giving in too quickly if need be. I might hav...

Re: Streamers
My o' my...some fine looking streamers given here. Simple question, what do you guys prefer to use for that nice, shiny build on the black head of your flies? Five min. epoxy is a PITA plus it turns/yellows after awhile. I have a slow, motor-driven drying wheel! Thanks. Jeremy. P.S I fish bead-heads...
