Re: Atherton dry fly

It was before my time there, but, with Maxine's blessing, AMFF sold a great many of his flies at their fundraisers. Not sure it's something I would have done, but there you have it. Re: Shadow box flies

Sadly, so many framers don't get what Ted just wrote. To them, it's all about showcasing their matting/framing powers. The matting/framing should literally draw you into the object(s) on display, focus your attention on it/them. Good stuff, Ted.

Re: The Carrie Stevens Archive

Just wondering...were the boxes insured? Was a signature required at the delivery destination? Hope so on both counts. You can go after fedex if signature was required (should always do that with important stuff) and they just left the boxes.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to you, too.

Re: John Betts

Yes, Ed, John cornered the market on z-lon, a carpet fiber. I believe Blue Ribbon Flies handles it now, or distributes it, or something.
They broke the mold when they made John, for sure. We had some fun together.

John Betts

passed away a couple days ago. There certainly was only one John Betts. Here are links to the 1981 Sports illustrated article on him. The first is just text, the second has the great photos, but is harder to read. https://www.si.com/vault/1981/05/04/825592/gotcha-hook-line-and-lingerie-nothings-sacr...
