Re: What's your...

I'm a simple guy without much in exotic material, just way too much of the normal stuff. Singling out a couple of items that I will have to replace that I do use a lot but hate to see disappearing before my eyes (ties?) is a simply scrumptious cree cape, and a great jungle cock cape. These are high ...

Re: Super glue

Would find it hard to get along without it in today's tying world. I use it everywhere mentioned above and many places not mentioned. The tiniest drop with a needle on butt end of soft hackle to keep in place but not stain silk. Under many wraps like herl, ostrich, etc. Use it for head cement on most...

Re: bergman wets real ones best i've seen

I did these for a fly swap not long ago. When you look at his plates they seem like something you knock out a dozen in a night. Maybe you can but then the next night you shave 8 of the hooks to start over again. The first one I was the Butcher, the second one I can't remember but at least it had Mal...

Re: Wet-fly legs

I gotta go with bearded. I am so my wet flies should be. Actually, it's a preference thing. Just tied a dozen for a swap. Blue wing tail, silver tag, blue floss, silver rib, blue dyed goose wings, red beard. They look good and since it's not a direct copy of any one of the billions of wet flies out ...

Re: My First Adams

If you look at the top fly in the lineup of three you'll see a beautiful, tight tail. I just cannot get consistent tails like that and mine look like the majority of the rest of yours. Would love to get them all like that top fly and that's what you should strive for cosmetically. Now if your plan i...

Re: Let it Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow

Having lived 40 years in central and northern MN wife and I kind of laugh about the "sky is falling" attitude of weather channels today...BUT...realistically, this is beyond the normal winter snow storm or even an average blizzard. Record snows anywhere in the world cause catastrophic problems, loss...

Re: 19 & no trout rising

That is a lovely picture. It would be a beautiful oil painting if you could capture the water whitecaps and mountain background, but I'd have add a white top to the some of the mountains in plan for spring run off.

Re: Climate change

This is probably the most contentious topic of the day and basically, "Only time will tell". I tend to go with the global warming consensus of major science sources. I also see the increase of "crazy" weather patterns all part of what was predicted several years ago. China and Japan are experiencing...

Re: Red Quill... Variant

I understand "Variant" to mean 1 or 2 sizes longer hackle than considered standard. Longer tail also. Looking at yours I wonder if it normal on variant style Classic flies to NOT put wings on them?
