Re: Antrim Lodge
I stayed at Antrim in the early 1980’s, during my rookie years. $10 a night was the room rate. I remember sitting on the bed and sinking down almost to the floor, LOL.

Re: The mystery of Orvis line weight ratings
I also downsize by one line weight. I use a DT6 on 8’ 4-3/8 ounce rod, and a DT5 on the 7-1/2’ 3-7/8 ounce rod.

Took the day off yesterday and got few hours in on a local stream and managed just one small wild brookie on a Montreal wet fly.

Re: RIP Nelson Bryant
I just found this today. Sad news. He was always a favorite of mine. During my newbie days, he found me fishing Wagon Tracks Pool during my first opening day on the Beaverkill and included me in his column the next day. A true gentleman.

Re: Seven and a half footer recommendation please...
Personally, I would pick at least a 5-weight for what you’re doing. You might try to find an old Orvis Far & Fine graphite, which is a 7’9” 5-weight.

Re: classic streamer fishermen. need help
I’ll go through my archives and see what I can find, but what about Maine style streamers, Lew Oatman, etc. Do they qualify?
