Re: Seven and a half footer recommendation please...

Personally, I would pick at least a 5-weight for what you’re doing. You might try to find an old Orvis Far & Fine graphite, which is a 7’9” 5-weight.

Re: classic streamer fishermen. need help

I’ll go through my archives and see what I can find, but what about Maine style streamers, Lew Oatman, etc. Do they qualify?

My first trout was hooked in the Nissequogue River on Long Island, in 1979. It was a brook trout about 11 or 12 inches, taken on a Quill Gordon dry. Except for the fact that I dropped it after 10 or 15 seconds, it was a perfect experience and I was hooked for life. If I had to pick the most memorabl...

This time around, I decided to list every fly pattern I've ever used and count how many times that particular p...

Re: Anyone fishing fiberglass?

I still do. For Catskills dries, my favorite glass rod is a 7-1/2’ -4wt Lamiglas that I built some years ago when the blanks were available in the “flamed cane” color. Another rod that I really enjoy is my Shakespeare 848 Wonderod. It’s a 6wt that I use quite a bit, especially in the early season. A...
