Re: Atherton

Nice John! Just an FYI---We are again having John Atherton's grandaughter, Catherine Vauchaver, join us at the Atherton Booth , at the American Musuem of Fly Fishing summer event on August 10. There's an Atherton display that our SGM member Squish67 , friend and AMFF secretary Jamie Woods and I had ...

Re: tie2fish has passed

Back in February, Bill mailed me several very nicely tied flies that he submitted to be included in the "Catskills book" that Stackpole assigned to me to write. The flies were great, and the information he included in correspondence was quite thorough and complete. I got back to Bill and let him kno...

The Classic Streamer Fly Box

The Classic Streamer Fly Box book discussion found its way into SGM posts what was happening with its release goes back several years ago. I had completed that book some 8 years ago. 100 classics. It was a third installment of a "classics" series that was planned with a publisher (following my Clas...

Epeorus Ed's BIG Opening Day Brown Trout!!!

This just in from our Epeorus : -Ed was on water early this morning-- opening day of trout season in New York. It didn't surprise me one bit that Ed's first cast of the new season enticed a gargantuan 29-1/2" wild Esopus River brown trout! Congrats, Ed! Ed rarely keeps a fish but this is a catch of ...

Looking for Ayumi Ozeki's contact email

I seemed to have misplaced Ayumi Ozeki's email address (he has a place on the upper Beaverkill area, in Rockland). He often stops in the Dette shop.
Please PM his email, if you have it.

-Thanks

A call for effective Catskill flies

Folks, I have a great project in the works with Stackpole, my publisher, that has a lot to do with Catskill waters. >Do you have a great pattern(s) that you've fished in the Catskills with sustained success? A pattern that you wouldn't be without at some time or another during the fishing season. A ...

Re: John Atherton Dry flies

Great, Tom.... FYI, my friend Jamie Woods (a Trustee at the American Museum of Fly fishing) and I have been planning an enhanced "Atherton Booth" for the museum's annual August event. John Atherton's granddaughter will be joining us at the booth this summer. Catherine is a peach of a gal. I got to k...

Re: Darwin Atkin

Atkin was part of the Buz Buszek circle. Others from my "era" in fly tying will recall that there were only a dozen fly tying mail order houses in all of the U.S. Most of us had the Buz's Fly and Tackle Shop catalog. Buz's had the best dyed dun hackle that could be had in those late 1960's days---so...

Re: looking for good photo(s)

Ted,
I just emailed you a very high res photo of a Black Nose Dace---with orange hue. It's on a nice mossy background. I shot the pic back in 2014
