Re: Summer heat and stream thermometers

I use mine the entire time I’m fishing. It helps locate spring seeps in the streambed and I note the locations for the next time around, as I find the bigger fish stay in the coldest sections. Re: The elusive 20

sort of amazing that the hook straightened before the tippet broke. As Bob mentioned, I find that I bend more hooks than lose flies to broken tippet. This particular scene I had Trouthunter 4.5X on, as the parachute fly was a size 12 and spinning tippet aggravates me. That stuff is tough, and dry f...

Re: The elusive 20

I also believe some hooks are springy enough that they straighten to let the fish escape and then return to their original form. Ehhhhh, I’ve never seen that springy of a hook. That is an interesting theory. I straightened a few, bent a lot more and broke a lot of classic hooks, but never had one s...

The elusive 20

On a headwater stream way above the Delaware River, right at dusk where the shadows overtook the low sunlight, ahead and on the far bank a rootball the size of a vw towered alongside the stream. The stream favors that side, and where the roots once took hold left a depression in the streambed, where...

Brook trout flies

It’s been hot at work, really hot last week. Heat stroke hot actually😂
Next trip up I likely will head way upstream, where the water always flows cold.
Started a small fly selection for that trip.
A couple Royal Wulff’s and an Ausable....perched on a Catskill Research inc 2200 reel.
