As for split shot...

when I add split shot, which isn't often, I apply it such that it rides about the last knot, the terminal piece of material the fly is attached to... thus the shot never slides down to the fly.

Re: Art Lee's High Wing Emerger?

The Delaware Fox

*note that I have been using moose mane for the tail, the correct dressing calls for a mix of grizzly/brown hackle fibers*

Re: Art Lee's High Wing Emerger?

Hey boys! I’ve been using Lee Hartman’s fly for a long time, but just revisited it last summer. It’s a parachute, grizzly and brown tail and hackle, as per the adams dry fly, yellow/orange body and white floating yarn post. I actually don’t have the precise dressing for the “high wing emerger” as I ...

Re: Synthetic parachute wing material?

I too like the polypropylene yarn. It does get a little frizzy after use but I don’t re-use flies after they landed a few anyway.
The new EP fibers are really catching on, I am going to do a run of Catskill parachutes to try in the spring, looking forward to seeing how they work. CJ

Re: bulk spools fo antique French tinsel

What one guy would pay may be a whole lot less that others.....I have seen spools like that go for over $100 on eBay. If re-spooled on smaller spindles, typically they sell in the $8.00-$10.00 range at the shows, since most guys won’t pony up for a huge spool they will never put a dent in. Good tins...

Re: A question about Ducks

The color looks close for merganser, but the barring does not.
Merganser has a heavier barring, on all the feathers I have at least.
Those look really pretty though, I’m sure you’ll find a use! CJ

Re: Tippet Rings

I used the hell out of them nymphing, and like stated above they make tippet changing soooo fast. So much easier to poke a tippet through steel and spin the leader to make a clinch knot than surgeons knots with long tag ends to clip off. I wouldn’t use them with dry flies, but that’s just me. I’m su...
