Re: SGM event update [w/pics]

It was almost a 50/50 mix of people from this site and people who came because of Shannon's. I counted just under 60 at one point and would guess we had 100 come in the door. There will be a 2nd location, looking for a place in the Syracuse area, maybe in a few weeks! I am happy to say I planning o...

Re: Fly Fest 2010 Announcement

I missed this one in 09, so I'm going to try like hell to get to 2010's event.
I'm giving tying lessons on Saturday's during the winter so I'll have to see what day's are open.
Or I can make sure that there will be no classes on the above date.

Re: TGF Catskill Classic - Sept 26-27th

Nice event and I had alot of fun but turnout was very low. The thing is when the fishing is good on the rivers it's hard to get a good turnout, due to the fact that alot of people that are up that weekend are out fishing instead. Maybe this should be held the last weekend of March as the season isn'...

Re: Furs

Back in the day when my mentor(George Kolasar) used to tye commercially for the shops in the Roscoe area, he would go to NYC's fur distric. Back then they would "give" him all the scraps of fur or he would pay next to nothing for all he could carry. Then he would go through the dyeing process on all...

Re: Mc Murray ant... Warning not a Catskillian

if it can be tied with a natural material and not a synthetic, such as wood duck wings versus poly, then it is held in higher esteem. But the McMurry Ant is mostly natural materials- Balsa Wood for the head and abdomen and Hackle for the legs. The only thing is the string or mono which isn't natura...

Re: Fly Fisherman Mag: Re-new Virtual Fly Shop page...

Don't even look at Fly Fisherman Magazine since they gave up the E.Branch and my favorite hatch a few years back.
The only magazine worth getting is Fly Tyer and it's the only one that I get anyway.

Re: TGF Catskill Classic - Sept 26-27th

Joe,
I'll be tying there also. I'm coming up on Sat morning and will be bringing the fishing gear for after hours.
I'll get in touch with Ted Patlen this week to see if he wants to hit the stream after the event.
Also if you can put aside a copy of Mike's book I would appreciate it.

It is what it is, and as an out of stater, I' guess I'll have to pony up the extra cabbage.
