... Fished above Painter Bend and did very well. Tried a lot of different flies but caught all of the fish on Size 10 March Browns. All fish were caught after 7:30 in the evening time. All fish were very husky and put up a great fight. Largest was 17 or 18 inches and the others above 13 inches. ......

I haven't been there in years, but the last time I fished the East Branch I found plenty of public water above Pepacton Reservoir. And there is public water in Margaretville and upstream.
