Re: Bill Cairns

I worked with Bill teaching Fly fishing classes in the early 80's when he came down to PA. One of the finest gentleman I have ever met. He put on a demo casting expo with the top half of a flyrod at a TU meeting in a low ceiling VFW, 50 ft. casts from his knees. The audience was speechless. RIP.

Re: Fenwick FF79-FF80

The old Fenwick's are a world apart from modern day glass rods, slow and shakey I have a few that have not been out of the tubes in 30 years. If you can find any Conlon blanks they make up a nice rod. We cast one made by W. Carpenter a few years ago, Of course anything made by McFarland is stellar. ...

Re: Doc Fried, rest in peace...

This is a hard one, about 2 months ago Doc asked me to sit with him in the Museum to rest his leg. He proceeded to tell me the history of the eggs, who they were sent to and what they meant to fly tying. He told me about the Leonards (his 8 ft. one piece is in the Museum). About starting the Museum ...

Re: CFFC & M

Ted. lots of spinners the last two nights, I'm sure you will find some.
Tim, I'm sure we can find you a table that the clamp will fit.
Did a Wounded Warrior group Tues and Wed from Camp Drum they all caught fish even though the were Steelheaders and insisted on swinging their flies.

Re: May 11-12 report

Thanks for the report CJ, we are taking a Healing Waters group out - 7 troops from the 10th Mtn. Division and I was hoping to have good water by Tuesday.
Nice looking rod, did it do what you wanted it to do?

Re: Rusty Hooks-solutions?

Tim. most of those hooks came to us from a very large estate that was willed to us by a gentleman from NJ whose storage solutions were not the best. I sorted hundreds of boxes of hooks and had to toss a good number of the open boxes. CJ bought all of the good hooks.
Hope your restoration works.
