Never got the Noll kit but my dad had the Family Circle Guide from the 1950's. Thankfully, that was my initiation into the world of literature...those paintings by Raymond Camp had wonderful proportions that have been engraved into my conscience. Just saw this, Yes the bass are here on the cape and feeding. If you're going to try it now is the time, although they're around until October. Your 7wt will be fine as most fish caught are schoolies. Depth of fly is most important. A floating line will work when they're in the shallows. An intermed...

Other possibilities is the hook you use or slack in the line. There really are many issues involved as how a fish becomes hooked then lost. Have you ever caught a fly with the hook through the outside of the mouth or foul hooked? Why happens is everyones guess.
