Back in the saddle

I haven't made a rod since May of 2011 due to buying a house and all of the nonsense that goes along with it. My new(to me) house has a shop that is nowhere near finished but I have put lights and one outlet in one section of it. I haven't had a chance to make a workbench yet but I couldn't take it ...

Found my camera

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I posted so I figured since I finally found my camera after our move I would post a picture. This rod was a birthday present for my oldest daughter(back in May) but it is the last one I have made. I hope to have my new shop up and running by the spring then I can...

Re: New(ish) rod

Thank guys! Bob, it's fun to fish. It's very laid back and effortless. I haven't had much fishing time in but it handled an 8" wild brown that thought it was a salmon nicely(thing jumped 4 or 5 times during the very short fight). It doesn't like weighted streamers though, pretty much just wets and d...

New(ish) rod

Here's some lousy pictures of a rod I made in the fall and finally finished. I had to re-wrap it a few times and it isn't polished so there are still some good sized dust nibs but I'm fishing it and I figure the river will polish it for me. It's a 7' 4wt parabolic of my own design with all of my own...

Re: Test

Wolf, it's kind of almost parabolic(more on the progressive side though). You can feel the cast under the handle when you get a good amount of line out. It's one of those the less you push the better it casts kind of taper. I don't like casting it on the lawn much but it's been my go-to on the strea...

Re: Test

Thanks all! John, you haven't cast these. I don't have pictures of the one you did but I'll try and get some pictures up of it's little brother. Good eye though, the wood on the reel seats on both the top one here and the one you played with at summerfest are Australian(different species but similar...

Test

Test photo of a rod made over the summer. If this works, I'll post more when I get a chance(don't have anything new finished right now).

FNG

Hi everyone,
I found this site and registered. Dan told me about it, said there were some folks I knew on it so I figured I would say hi.
