Summerfest?

Hello all,

Did anybody attend the Summerfest? I hope it went well, and wasn't plagued (as usual) by heavy rains.

Stay safe with the current weather conditions approaching.

Best,

Tim

Re: Genesee New York State Fishing Contest

Hi Ed, I do remember them, my Dad won a prize for a big yellow perch he caught from Keuka Lake...this was probably in 1975 or so. A great day of fishing that I remember well, because he came and got me out of school early that day to go fishing...but that's another story! I may have one of the flyer...

Re: A question about varnished wings

Jack Gartside used spar varnish to prepare the pheasant "almonds" that he tied his pheasant hopper and caddis patterns with. They have to be prepared at least a day in advance to allow for proper drying. Put a drop at the base of the feather (after pulling off the fluff). Pull the varnish through to...

Re: Moving out west, while I'm still young?

Hi Rick,
You've been a good friend, and I'll miss you. Good on you for making the move for the right reasons, though. You're a good man. I'll also miss your ladies, and all the great work they do at Fly Fest.
Any chance you'll make it up to fish before the big move?
Thanks for everything!
Best,
Tim

Re: First...

Hi Ed, Can't remember the first trout, my Dad and I used to catch and kill many, using bait. I remember the first trout I caught on a fly very well. Canisteo river, flows through my hometown and gets stocked fairly well. It's generally a put and take fishery until it gets too warm in the summer. I w...

Re: OUT WITH OLD IN WITH ?

Hi Teddy, Glad you got out on the first day of the year. The Cape Cod kettle ponds were always fun to fish, as you never knew what you were going to hook up with. I made my "traditional" New Year's Day outing with my friend Walt. We decided to try a new spot, really only having two options as most o...

Re: Fly Fest 2019

I'm trying to talk a couple of guys into attending and sharing the drive down to Roscoe. Fly Fest is always such a nice event, and always good to see so many great people. Hoping for good weather!

Re: the other chuck = the other trout

Well done, Chuck!

I miss saltwater fly fishing.

Watch out for those Clouser Minnows in that wind...they can knock the stuffing out of you! Whaaaaack!!! Ouch!!!

Enjoy the sunshine and great fishing.

Best,

Tim

Re: Zebra midge

Hi Ed, Late to the party, as usual...all work lately, and not much play. That was a tough day on the water...the day before was one of the very best I'd had there. "You should have been here yesterday", almost as frustrating as the sign at the saloon stating "Free beer tomorrow"! That was a good cou...

Re: The Carrie Stevens Archive

bb, Such a shame. I remember when you started this project. This is just unbelievable. Although it would be normal to name call, politicize, or any number of ungentlemanly responses, it is best to stay the course and let the authorities try to handle it. It's hard not to be disappointed when you hea...
