All I know is his name, Ed Hartzell, and he was from Oregon. Very well respected. Made less that one hundred rods. Will ask a friend from Oregon if he has anymore info. Anything specific you are looking for?

OK, if you promise not to tell anyone, I stock up with a couple of 9' to 4x store bought leaders, and a couple of 12' to 5x leaders, cut them back a foot or two and just play with tippet. But don't tell anyone!!!!!!!! ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I have used the 60-20 part of the equation for, I hate to admit it, 50 years, but the tippet has always been a function of the water I'm fishing. In fast water, riffles or pockets where I am looking for accuracy, it might be 10%, on a spring creek it might be 40% or more. So for a 12' foot leader I ...
