Re: My #1, go-to, when everything else fails...
We fish a similar type nymph patern quite often also. I find it humorous, after tying & fishing flies for 30+ years, my pattern selection has become very small - smaller each year. Just curious on the wing case tied in front of the bead head - any problem with it slipping out with the firm smooth sh...

Re: First Bamboo Rod
Next question - rods style or shapes? I believe there are a few to choose from - quad, penta, hexa, epta, octa, maybe up to 13 sides and a different pentalux ? Like most other options, there are sublte reasons for each, but to begin with, there must be a middle of the road agreed upon shape for class...

Re: First Bamboo Rod
How about impregnated vs not today?
Is it true the modern varnishes do not require builders to impregnate their rods today?
Rods to be fished should be impregnated?
Comments?

Currently working out of town, won't return until next week. Living on Tug Hill is wonderful. Trying to find a job there is another story.

Re: First Bamboo Rod
OK, the anticipation is killing me. I've gathered as much info as possible from this site and a few other sources. My first move will be to drive down to Dennis M. shop in Hancock and get to feel a few rods. I spoke with him today for a few minutes. Since I'm a green horn in this genre, I'll probabl...

Re: First Bamboo Rod
Nice to read all of the advice from you fellows.
I supopose having to decide on a certain model, taper, maker, line, reel or pattern isn't such a bad problem to have.
Funny thing, after fly fishing my entire life, I'm starting all over again at retirement age.

Wet Fly Pattern resource book
Hey folks,
New to the forum and not all that great at tying or fishing wet flies, yet always liked them.
Anyway, any recommendations if you could have one resource (book) for Wet Fly Patterns, what would it be?
I have a small library, using mainly an old Orvis ring binder book from approximtley 1975.

Salt Water Flats Patterns
Does anyone have any info on tying saltwater flats patterns? I'm going to to do a "reverse" weather trip to Key West in late June trying for a slam. I know it will be hot, weather wise, but not too crowded, people wise. Anyway, looking for a few patterns that may work. I'm new to the flats fishing, ...

Re: First Bamboo Rod
Well, Muddy waters is not preferred when fishing dries, but in this case no problem. This info is exactly what I was looking for. Somehow I just realized I may be missing one of the finer parts of this hobby by not trying a fine grass rod. Now the whole new aspect of silk line vs modern line. This m...

First Bamboo Rod
First bamboo Rod As you can tell, I'm new to this forum. Although a lifetime fly fisherman and tyer, the feeling of casting a fine bamboo rod will be new to me. I have a general understanding between mass produced rods from Asia to custom pieces of art work by master craftsmen. I suppose this could ...
