Re: The "Cinberg"

Part of what I find so attractive about this site is the amount of history that resides here; this place fairly wallows in it. The Fly itself is fascinating and gorgeous to look at, ...and intimidating. Perhaps someone could explain, in terms a very average tier can understand, how you go about tyin...

Re: Overtons wonder wax

...you mentioned a 'pine resin' aroma. Does Wonder wax use pine tar or rosin to effect a measure of stickiness? I would have that that either of those would have added a bit of color.

Re: Overtons wonder wax

It is common knowledge, among those that know, that the two-headed horned fly fishing God Duocornucaput Fontinalis (also known as BEAMOC) came down riding on a blue Unicorn from the upper reaches of the Beaverkill and touched Glen Overton on the shoulder with the very first bamboo fly rod ever made...

Re: Good riddance summer, 4 days in review

I feel for all of you; I spent the summer trying to talk fly fishing friends in NH down off the ledge. High summer temps and absurdly low water levels all but ended their fishing early on. Even sections of central and southern Maine were drought stricken for most of the year. Fortunately for me, her...

I've never used Overton's, not sure I'd ever even heard of it before this thread. I'm curious, how sticky/tacky are we talking? ... IMO  , "The Best"! ;) I purchased my first tube when it first hit the market for a buck, a single George Washington bill... I wish I had purchased several presid...

No, no ...I get that.

Someone gave me a beautiful 1939 vintage Pflueger 1495 1/2 this spring, it looks damn near new. I immediately spooled it up and took it out to play.

For those of you old enough to remember having to hand wax your cross country skis it almost sounds like you're describing a breed of Klister. There were various grades of ...

Re: Stone dams and autumn spawning trout

I won't say my hatred of dams borders on pathological but it probably wouldn't take much of a push to send me round the twist. The dam in your pictures is actually pretty impressive; there was some significant energy expended in making it. Is recreational dam building a common occurrence in the Cats...

Re: odd ball streamers

'The Last Supper' actually comes from Richard Brautigan's 'Trout Fishing in America.' Rob[/i] I miss Brautigan's writing. I picked up 'Trout fishing in America' in high school, and by the time I realized it wasn't actually about trout fishing in America I was hooked. No pun intended. The Timothy Le...
