Re: Trick Or Treat Variation

Hi Shakey: I still fish with Size 8 and times a size 10, once in awhile I have to drop down to midge size 14. The Brown Trout taken this past November with the Trick Or Treat wet fly were on a size 8. Browns ranged from 8 inch to about 12 inch that day. As I always said, I will continue and always w...

Trick Or Treat Variation

Hi everyone this is my own creation that is a variation of a fly that I will be posting in a few days. The name of the fly is called the Trick Or Treat. I went fishing on the South Branch below lake Solitude this past November 2011. Actually it was the first weekend after Halloween that was a really...

Re: Striking, is there a difference

Honestly Ed, like Gordon I throw my wet flies at times up stream and strip as fast as needed. This does not work with a fast moving streams but I have had much success both ways of fishing up & down stream and have not really had much differance in catch ratio from one to the other. Most of the time...

Re: Striking, is there a difference

Sorry Ed, but this brings up a very old angler joke. Do you know what a dry fly fisherman is??? A fly fisherman that failed at wet fly fishing. Honestly I do not believe that statement one iota and would love to see the data and how it was gathered on this one.

Re: Hot stove topic: color and trout flies

Well honestly when you get down to the science of light and it's properties of reflection, refraction, attenuation and of course amplification then color does come into play. Light as most people know it is simply ROY G BIV or Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Then add in Ultra vi...

Re: Wet Fly Winging

HI Jerry: I have tried both ways of setting the collar in front of the wings and behind the wing. I prefer to place the wing on first and the collar second for two minor reasons and one major reason. The minor reason's 1) With placing the collar on first, the material gets in the way at times on win...

Re: Wet Fly Winging

I tye and fish with classic winged wets all year round. They are beautiful, extremely affective and work. When the Trout inform me that they don't like them, then maybe thats when I will stop. Now far as married wings, they work well and can be re-enforced with a little Griffs thin on the base of th...
