Opening Day and Two Headed Trout Dinner

It used to be that the Two Headed Trout Dinner was the night before Opening Day... I understand why they moved it to the weekend, but now its 2 weeks after the season starts...Everything was perfect for this year with the Opener on a Sunday...I dont know if they didnt want to take away the Anglers R...

It was great seeing everyone in Califon yesterday... Thanks to Joe and Catskill John for all their help and support... as well as Shannons for hosting the event.. We had over 120 people through the doors with over 50 talented tyers... Hopefully John posts some pics.. Cant wait till next year... Than...

The Beamoc is about as crystal clear as I have ever seen it...Lots of rainbows in the river but noticed a lack of brown trout...I am theorizing that the high water pushed them in tribs to spawn a little earlier than usual...Maybe it was last weekend but has anyone else noticed the same on the beaver...

It has been awhile since I have been on SGM...I live in more rural than suburban area of NJ...Quite developed compared to some places in the Catskills...I have a small commuter car for work and a fishing/hunting truck (2002 Dodge Ram with 230k miles)..because of the high water, I didnt drive the tru...

I spend alot of time in waders and have tried all the major brands over the years....No one even comes close to Simms...I went through 5 pairs of Hodgeman, 3 pairs of Orvis, Dan Baileys, Choata, Cabelas...They all leaked within 10 trips, some on the first outing...I broke down and bought Simms 6 yrs...

One word I can not stand is Fishing POLE...It is a rod not a pole and for what ever reason, it bugs me when people say "let me grab my pole"...Even worse is when someone refers to Fly Pole....You would be surprised how many people say it....

It is amazing how many people I see fishing the same exact water on the same rivers...The thing I love most about the Catskills is exploring...and there is soo much to find in those rivers and mountains...You just need to look.....
