Re: When tying dry flies...

Hello again, The only time I put the butt end of a hackle is when I tie a caddis fly. This is my method for tying a caddis fly, which I have been tying for years and years. Here goes: Tie in body first larger at the rear and tapered towards the front. Then I use the cheek hair from a white tailed bu...

Re: First...

I was 8 onSaddle River in Ridgewood,NJ. I used a 9ft. bamboo Montegue fly rod with a worm for bait. My first with a fly was on the Wanaque River where it flowed out of Greenwood Lake. It was about half mile down from the lake and I was 14. It was 1945 when I was eight so now you can figure out how o...

Re: Dennis Skarka

This is probably why his web site is still from Nov.24. When ever I was in Roscoe Iwould stop in to see him and buy a few things I didn’t really need. He was pleasant to talk too. RIP Dennis. Bill the mailman

Ice Fishing

Is any one ice fishing on Shohola Falls Lake and if so how thick is the ice? Want to take my grandson there fishing. Is Scott’s in Shohola still there and if so what are his hours? It’s been years and years since I’ve been ice fishing. Just let me know on this site or email me at whv1937@comcast.net...

Re: The Carrie Stevens Archive

Sorry for your lose. I was a mailman for 36 years and always rang the bell or knocked on the door if no bell. If no one would answer I always left a notice. Now I tell everybody to insure the packages so the carrier needs a signature. I don’t no why these companies just leave the packages on the por...

Re: Dam

Hi, I sure hope there won’t be some kind of impact on the fishing. I can remember when the reservoir was being built and a friend of mine and me would shoot woodchucks before the reservoir filled up. We were shooting up to 400 yard shots. Even the reservoir police would drive us around for some of t...

Dam

Hello, I read on another site that somebody wants to put a power plant on the Cannonsville Dam. Has anyone else heard of this. If they do I think it will be the end of the Westbranch of the Delaware. Why can’t the companies leave the streams and rivers alone. I know when I lived in Shohola,Pa. they ...

Re: It's giving Tuesday

Hi Guys, Sent my check in on Monday. Won’t know until I get my Dec. bank statement if they got it. I think it went to a good cause and I’ll make sure that I go to the museum this coming June when I will be spending three or four days in Roscoe. Bill the mailman
