Hi, Fished the Ramapo in Jersey today and did very well with a size16 pheasant tail bead head. Fished above the Glen Gray bridge up where the river splits. Little Black Stoneflies were hatching. Re: March 1st bows

Hi Ed, I know what you mean about a cane rod. My wife bought an Orvis Madison 71/2 ft. It was 51 years ago for our first anniversary and I still use it to this day. There is something about a cane rod that just brings back all of the old memories. Bill Vance

Re: When tying dry flies...

Hi Ed, you know I’ve been tying my flies the way I wrote about and it is so hard to change. But try the way that I tie a caddis fly. Another thing I do is make my wings on a dry fly longer then they should be because I think when a fly is floating down stream the trout will see the wings first and h...

Re: When tying dry flies...

Hello again, The only time I put the butt end of a hackle is when I tie a caddis fly. This is my method for tying a caddis fly, which I have been tying for years and years. Here goes: Tie in body first larger at the rear and tapered towards the front. Then I use the cheek hair from a white tailed bu...
