Re: Favorite Tyer

Well, I have several that are my favorites and have influenced my tying. Even though I'm from Indiana, I'm more of a Michigan style tier than anything else. So classic Michigan tiers like Clarence Roberts and Ralph Hanna(still living) have had the largest impact on my style of tying. My favorites ar...

Re: stab at a Davidson Special

I saw a reference that said the dubbing was fox fur that had been dyed light green using willow bark, but that may not be accurate. That's accurate. I did a little story on this in an old Gazette. The dubbing comes out a pale olive, very pale. Think apple caddis with 50% more white blended in. You ...

stab at a Dark Cahill

Here is my try at a Dark Cahill. I tried a little propping of the tail ala Rube Cross on this one.

stab at a Davidson Special

Well, I continue my Catskill Dry Fly tying quest. Here is a stab at a Davidson Special. Thanks to Catskill John for sending me the dubbing. I started with enough room for a turle knot, but once I snipped my hackle stem, I felt I needed a full head to cover it. So I figured I would go with an Art Fli...

Re: Short time in Facebook

I used to really hate Facebook. I've kind of turned it into what I want to see though. The people from high school that are on there, I just ignore. My news feed is filled with everything fly tying and fly fishing. So it is just another way I can keep in touch with other fishermen and tiers. I've gr...

Re: First tied Catskill style dry fly

Thanks Mike A. That is a great idea and I don't know why I didn't think of this, but I do have some flies sent to me by John Bonasera. I wanted to keep them nice, so I put them away, but I'll get them out and study them and use them as a guide. Great idea!! Oh and thank you for the compliment on my ...

Re: First tied Catskill style dry fly

Thanks Mike. I see what you mean. I'll review the book and I imagine I will set my sights on tying the Flick way. Although I wasn't thinking in that manner when I tied this. I was just trying to get the basics down, but I know exactly what you are saying now. This gives me an actual style to try to ...
