Re: My new vise of choice

Rube Cross's vise----

Same type watchmaker's vise shown at the beginning of this thread. Great choice for "the official fly tying vise of the Catskill Heritage Fly Tiers."

Re: My new vise of choice

Same reasons I "resigned" from Lagartun and Partridge pro teams, Mike. At my age, I sure don't need all those rules and "must do this and must do that" stuff. And the funny thing is, they need us WAY more than we need them. Oh well, probably a good deal for young folks trying to make a name for the...

My new vise of choice

So, I asked Regal Vise to please remove my name from their "Pro-List" (I never asked to be on it, in the first place, way back). They have all kinds of rules that if you're on the "list" you can only tie on Regal at shows. If you tie for any publication that shows step-by-steps it has to be on a Reg...

Re: New regulations in region 3

In other words, the Battenkill system has no current, thorough scientific data on which to support regulation changes. I agree----should be based on science (but the science in this case, based on what Squish said, is woefully lacking).

Re: New regulations in region 3

... unless DEC did updated surveys on all NYS Trout streams, how will they determine what "reaches" are "wild trout" waters and what reaches require stocking? One of the comments in the letter I wrote to DEC about this proposal, that I referenced above... I think in some cases they do, and others c...

Re: New regulations in region 3

Ed, But unless DEC did updated surveys on all NYS Trout streams, how will they determine what "reaches" are "wild trout" waters and what reaches require stocking? Do they have updated data? There's a little brook not far from here that is classified as being able to support natural trout reproductio...

Re: New regulations in region 3

I care about this stuff, you all care about this stuff, John cares about this stuff. But, for every guy that even gives a rat's ass I'll bet there's three who don't care at all. And I'm certain many welcome the proposed changes and don't see this the way we happen to see this. I know one TU member, ...

Re: New regulations in region 3

Good points, CJ---

(-There are a few nuts that fish year-long on NYS C&R Trout waters---you know one of them---there's others, too    ).

Re: The International Fly Tying Symposium

So due to watching grandkids, I missed both the recent Dette weekend and CFFC&M's Art of Angling just past... thus I'm hoping to attend The International Fly Tying Symposium in NJ on Saturday Nov. 23rd, but I've never been... so I was wondering... Are there fly-tying material vendors at this show, ...

Re: New regulations in region 3

My guess is, when it's all said and done...more will be said, than done . I submitted a snail mail letter----but who knows if I'll even get a response. There are some good biologists, but anything and everything in NYS government is decided and dictated from the "aboves." In whispers I've heard from...
