Re: H.L.Leonard Rod Company Dry Flies

Yanky, I have a similar set but of nymphs, tyed on the flybody hooks. I have a bunch of those hooks too, but they are best suited for display flies and not fishing. I’m pretty sure no one at Leonard was tying flies, likely they were tyed in a factory and packed up here. Nice piece of history though,...

Weekend report April 27-28

Got up to the house Friday night driving through rain for most of the trip. Chilly, but not freezing overnight with temps in the high 30’s. Saturday I had a tying gig to attend in Hancock, so with only a half hour to fish I drove into the high up area of my local stream. Elevated and discolored, but...

Re: Saturday opener

Ok, so 2 guys don’t like them😂

Good point bob, I didn’t think about the slow picture loading, mostly because I use a phone and nothing’s slow.

Re: Hewitt's Neversink Skater

Ted, they didn’t tell me the club who loaned the movie.
Just that it was on loan, and now it’s not. Maybe the NYAC? But I don’t know. CJ

Re: Saturday opener

So nice to read a report without having to see the fish to prove you caught them. That’s an odd statement. I think if you took a poll on how many members enjoyed the pictures you would likely be the only one who doesn’t. If you like reports with no pictures, you can find them on Joes shop page. Sea...

Re: Matched Duck Quills?

Those pictured were Don’s. He graded, packaged and wrote with pencil on the backing paper.
Good ones are not easy to find, he had the best quality and assortment of colors.
Don’t hear from him much anymore, but he’s still around, just not involved in the show scene like he used to be. CJ

Re: Hewitt's Neversink Skater

bb, Just to follow up on the Hewitt movie. I have been asking for a long time, and found out the movie was on loan from a fly fishing club. They took it back, and are not interested in “re-loaning” it to make a copy. If I ever get another opportunity to view it, I’ll certainly use my phone to video ...

Saturday opener

Saturday the 6th was my opener, while the rest of NY got an earlier start on Monday the 1st. It snowed on Friday night, about .75 of an inch of heavy ground cover. I made my way to the little creek I love early in the morning, and found the flows to be normal, not at all like last years opener. Not ...
