Another option if you're looking to purchase - www.streamsideleaders.com I picked up a couple from him last fall to try out this spring. Shorb loop at the butt end for attaching to your fly line and a tippet ring to simplify attaching your tippet. I've not fished with them but I've heard good things...

I also only tie 6 of any one pattern/size at a time - not because I think it's overkill to have more but because I'm never happy with what I tie. So 6 gives me enough flies to use but between snapping them off in the trees or bushes, losing them to the underwater nasties or even a fish once in awhil...

Whenever I see these types of posts regarding "how did you start fly ... <whatever>" I always wish I could post something nostalgic. I envy those who have a tradition of tying or fishing, learning from past masters, having equipment, skills and memories handed down from generation to generation, etc...
