Re: no hackle gauges used in the making of...

Hey Chuck, you're right he is a Pal and a very generous one :)

Most of the guys at work tie and fly fish, we work in a fishing tackle shop which helps ;)

no hackle gauges used in the making of...

Tied a few quick flies in my lunch break today using my workmates emergency tying materials. Cheap wapsi indian rooster cape, wulffish dries. It was fun not aiming for perfect proportions and making do with what I had on hand. I look forward to giving these a swim later in the week ;) I took the pho...

More of the same just variations of a hares ear

Thought I'd post these separately. A few of my other versions of this fly, the bent hook version is one that I use as a searching pattern when lake fishing. The hook bent in this fashion acts like a keel and means the fly rides the right way up. I usually just cast it out and slow roll it in, barely...

Re: One my favorite staple nymphs

Cheers Tim ;) :D The Semperfli glint nymph is definitely worth investigating. This is the first time I used it and I think it will work a treat on some Dry/Emerger patterns as it doesn't introduce much bulk or weight. I'll post some experiments when I find some spare time at the vise, something of a...

Re: One my favorite staple nymphs

Thanks everyone, sorry for the delayed response operating on Aussie time :| Ed the wing case and legs are a single feather from a dark mottled hen cape (more durable with the quill centre), I often tie them with a black or dark copper crystal flash wing case. Or no wing case at all. BBV I don't both...

One my favorite staple nymphs

I've caught trout all over the world with these and wouldn't be caught without a few dozen on any stream. The old hare n copper as NZ'ders call it hares ear numph ;) I experimented with the ribbing and subbed the usual dark copper wire I use with Semperli Glint Nymph in Rust. It's a fine flat plaite...
