Re: My second shot at a Catskill dry

haha  I understood you the first time Allan, for some dumb reason I said Hackle instead of Wings. Must be a case of dyslexia and tiredness, sorry, but thanks for pointing it out. A dubbed head!!! Sounds worse than using head cement

Re: My second shot at a Catskill dry

Thanks Allan, I really appreciate your great advice, I will try your style of tying the wing slips later tonight. Using dubbing in front of the wings is a good tip, I do this with some of my regular dries just didn't think to on a catskill dry. If I get a chance I'll post some new pics. I agree with...

Re: My second shot at a Catskill dry

Well spotted on the hook front, are you also entering the comp.?
I had to jump through burning hoops to get my hands on these hooks. I wish I managed to find the black version :(

Thanks for the encouragement, this will be my first comp. :)

Re: My second shot at a Catskill dry

Thanks John, I appeciate the link, I noticed that the fibres on one side of the feather were longer and more even. It didn't even occur to me that this would affect the outcome of the split wings... I've had another go at it and tried using two feathers. Far from perfect at least the wings and tail ...

Re: Palmered Lite Cahill

Heya Frank,

Good to see you posting here my friend. Your flies are exquisite as always :D
Frank was one of my main inspirations to have a go at tying my first Catskill Dry, I think I mentioned this forum to him when I discovered it.

Keep those doozies coming mate!
