Re: Dreams along the Ashokan and Catskill heritage brook tro

Thanks Ed,

I also really enjoy your pictures and story. Some day I am going to have to leave the comfort of Vermont and venture over to your wonderful Catskills.

Thanks again,

Re: Catskill brook trout waters...

Hi Ed, Thanks for posting your pictures. Your brooks look just like any of the brooks I am used to fishing, not the same pools of course, but the setting looks like home to me. I have often wondered when I have seen pictures posted of what looked like the brooks I frequent, and out comes a brown or ...

Re: Garden State gems --- January wild bows

Hi Ed, I really enjoy all the posts here and especially any with pictures of brooks and streams. I am always amazed at what you guys catch in your brooks. For us here in Vermont, that would be pure brook trout water, no rainbows and no browns. Almost all of my fishing is on these "thin blue lines" h...

Re: On the Dumbing Down of Fly Fishing....

I have tried to avoid this thread, refusing even to read through all the posts until yesterday when temptation got the best of me. I am glad I finally did wade in and see what all the fuss was about. I was introduced to fly fishing as a young boy by my father and grandfather. Both of them loved fly ...

Re: Incident on the Battenkill...

Mike, It may have been Arnold Gingrich who said something about "some of the best fishing is in print." And, as you well know, that is the title of one of his books which does a nice job demonstrating this. By the way, two of your books are much treasured additions to my fly fishing library, "Tying ...

Re: Incident on the Battenkill...

I am afraid there is way too much emphasis on "the getting" whether it is trout, bass, deer, birds, or whatever. These folks drove me out of the woods years ago. I knew it was not safe anymore to be in the same woods with these so-called hunters. Getting a deer had become just way too important for ...

Re: The new book is here!!!!

My copy arrived last Wednesday and I am at least as pleased by its arrival as all of you are. I look at Mike's new book, "The Founding Flies," and it is as if I got to request a book to be written totally to please me and satisfy my interests. Again, thank you Mike. You have provided me and many of ...

Hi Mike,
I ordered a copy through Amazon a while ago. I am also anxiously waiting for your book to arrive in August. Thank you for all the pleasure and enlightenment you have added to our sport.

Re: Snowmelt and Peekamoose Brook

Hi Ed, Thank you for solving my puzzle. I kept looking at the brook at it looks like some of the streams I am so fond of, yet I wondered, how in the **** do these guys catch brownies in these brooks? I love those brooks that are still so cold in May and into June. My favorites, and where I can usual...
