Re: Snowmelt and Peekamoose Brook

Hi Ed, I do not post very often - actually, not often at all. I always enjoy all your posts, especially the pictures you share. I am always amazed with the brown trout you folks catch. It looks like you are fishing prime brook trout water, or what is prime brook trout water here in Vermont, yet you ...

Re: Water Restrictions in your area?

Hi Everyone, We need rain here in Vermont as well. I am ready to trade some unmentionalble body parts for a few days of steady rain. I have stopped stream fishing for a few weeks now. The trout are stressed enough as it is. Just north of me in the Northeast Kingdom I think it is a little bit better....

Re: The gift

Hi Ed,

As I am sure you will eagerly concur, your wife is a treasure! A great gift - I can imagine sitting and listening to this with your eyes closed. Oh, the sights and memories that will stream across your consciousness.

Wonderful gift - take care,

Yea Giants!

I am going to stick my neck out here - been a Giants fan all my life - for many of us here in Vermont back in the 50's and 60's, the Giants were our local team. They used to train in the summer at St. Michael's College in Burlington, Vermont. Many of us would go up and see them back then - the likes...

Re: Feels like May

I have kept a weather journal for years. I used to bring all the data in and have my students use it for math and science projects. Anyway, this January that has just ended - very unusual. Here in north central Vermont, we had 17 days with temperatures that were above 32 F. I have looked back in my ...

Re: Whatever happened to...

I liked "The American Sportsman" and of course, "Gaddabout Gaddis." I am going to try to find the show you are suggesting with Tom Rosenbauer. I think I would like that one. I don't give a damn about watching some fat fellas with southern accents sitting in bass boats and chewing tobacco and throwin...

Re: You guys

Hi Narcodog, I think if you look in Michael Sinclair's book on Heddon rods, you will see that the early Black Beautys had black wraps with orange tipping. The first Black Beauty was introduced in 1931. The rod just had #17 on one of the flats and no other description. The rod description and model n...

Re: You guys

Narcodog (gosh what a name) Anyway, I think with your new BB you may find it will be fine with some 5 wt. lines. A couple of mine really like the Orvis Wonderline 5 wt. DT's. I am sure I could find some other good matches, but these have worked well. I really enjoy these old Heddons and I am sure yo...

Re: Muddlers, Betters, and other bucktails

Nice ties Ed - If I had to choose only two flies to use all season, I would want the "Mini Muddlers" and some "Mini Hornbergs" - always good results with these two flies - might want to throw in some "X-Caddis" if I get to choose a 3rd fly. Thanks for putting these up, Ed Pirie West Topsham, Vermont

Re: You guys

The Heddon in 8.5' and 2F is just about my faorite rod. I have collected about 5 of them and I fish them all. Mine are all Model 20 grade or better and I have never had a problem with the ferrules (know on wood here). It is just a wonderful taper and a nice rod. I just like the way they fish. I have...
