Re: Hornbergs, and other small streamers

Hi Ed, Nice looking Hornberg - and one of my favorites. I fish the Hornberg quite a bit here in Vermont. I fish some small ones (#12"s) as a dry, and if they get water-logged, then I fish them wet. The bigger streamer Hornbergs are good producers here as well. When I first started seriously fly fish...

Re: Shingling a mouse

Bob, I hope the pike won't shoot at me. Last I knew, I am at peace with the pike. I am not climbing trees and taking pot shots at them when they are trying to go about their breeding business. If the pike are going to go on the warpath, then I am staying away from the Lake during their spawning seas...

Re: Shingling a mouse

I have heard of a similar method being used here in Vermont only fishing for lake trout. The method I have heard used calls for a chipmunk as bait rather than a mouse. Apparently, lakers have a liking for chipmunks and the time of year is important with lakers - early spring as the ice is going out ...

Re: Hurricane Irene

Hi Everyone, Reporting from Vermont: Southern Vermont really was hard hit by "Irene." So much damage - I have seen so many pictures that make you think it will be very hard to travel around Vermont for quite some time. Buildings, bridges, roads, all kinds of property - just gone. As far as I know, f...

Re: Introduction

Hi Fatman, I have read about the special regs. for the Dog - I hope they will help, but I am not sure. I grew up in Barre and my brother-in-law and I used to go over often in the 1980's and early 90's. We used to park by Cetrangelo's granite shed and the Riverton Fire Dept. and fish up and down from...

Re: Introduction

Gee Fatman, I am sorry to hear about your medical problem. To be honest, so far this season has been tough as you well know with the weather and poor water conditions. I think things are looking better finally. I usually get over to the Dog River a couple of times a summer. The last few summers it h...

Re: what older fly did you use WITH SUCCESS this year so far

some old reliables for me: Hornberg size 12, Muddler size 12, and various soft hackle spiders - I fish these flies a lot and they always work for me - I know - I am not "pure like the driven snow" - hope you guys don't drum me out of this "Catskill" site right after I got here - I promise to give so...

Re: Introduction

Thank you all for the warm welcomes.I have enjoyed this site far more than I can tell you. I have fished right along side of you vicarioulsly on many of your beloved Catskill streams. I have admired the flies you tie and the help you give each other. And, you folks and the fishing you do is not that...

Hi everyone, I have visited often for the last couple of years and finally decided to join in. I live in central eastern Vermont.
