Re: Link to new N.Y. Fishing Regs

If my memory serves me right, one of their pitches in the need for the new regulations was that the ones in place were too confusing!!

Re: Recharging tactical flashlight question?

Here's the skinny on the recharging unit and I'll pass it along for anyone else who buys one of these tactical flashlights and it comes without instructions. The answer came when I plugged the charger into the wall outlet without the battery inserted and saw the light glowed green. Up until then, I ...

CFO III line guide swap?

I have a ton of worn line guides from the original Orvis CFO III fly reel. I turn the reel handle with my RIGHT hand. If there's a lefthand reeler who wants to swap his worn line guides for some of mine, please PM me. I'll swap you one for one. Obviously, a lefthand reeler will be using the opposite...

Recharging tactical flashlight question?

A while back I bought a Skywolf Eye TLY-S21 rechargeable tactical flashlight on-line which didn't come with any instructions. I've never owned a rechargeable flashlight before and have a question on the recharging unit. When I insert the battery and plug it in, the red indicator light flashes contin...

Re: New regulations in region 3

According to the DEC email message I received, anyone who is concerned over the changes has until January 25th to voice their opinion if they haven't already done so.

Re: New regulations in region 3

I sent mine last summer. I opposed everything but reduced creel limits. The fishery is fine the way it is and I don't think it needs new regulations to "fix" it. I support the 700+ adult fish the East Branch was stocked with since 14" to 16" fish are a big and important jump start to making 20-inche...

Re: Seeking help with fishing camp mouse problem.

I've laid underneath the trailer several times shining a light and probing, but can't find the entry point. I've calked and used expanding foam everywhere. I've sprayed the underbody with rodent repellent. The windows and doors all fit tight and I suspect the mice wouldn't be able to grip and climb ...

Re: Seeking help with fishing camp mouse problem.

My problem is complicated by the fact it is in the ceiling and back wall of my trailer. My access to the interior of the ceiling is through two 4 -1/2" square holes which is rather limited. Spraying or placing scented bags into the ceiling through the holes only repels the mice in those two small ar...

Re: Seeking help with fishing camp mouse problem.

Unfortunately, mice leave a scent trail which they continue to follow from fall throughout the entire winter. I've tried both the sprays and the peppermint-scented bags by other manufacturers, but not Grandpa Gus. They didn't work. In fact, one mouse actually chewed into one of the scent bags!

Re: The mystery of Orvis line weight ratings

I build my own rods from graphite blanks now but have owned several Orvis bamboo rods in the past. And having worked for two major tackle companies, I can tell you that every fly rod will handle at least three line weights. Matching a line to a rod can be difficult as manufacturers use different mat...
