Possible to restore reel finish??
I carry two reels astream and stored my Hardy Featherweight in the back pouch of my fishing vest encased in its protective sheepskin pouch. I always leave the pouch zipper unzipped an inch or two to allow air circulation inside. However, in spite of this, moisture has literally destroyed the finish ...

Re: Fly shows
It depends on the health situation at the time the show appears next January and if they even have one. I'd probably go for one day.

Re: Leader breakage next to knot??
Thanks guys; I appreciate the input and ideas. I'm still looking for the possible answer and welcome anyone else who has some thoughts or knowledge on the subject. Maybe i should contact the leader manufacturer for their thoughts? Incidentally, I forgot to mention I'm using 5X and 6X tippet material.

Leader breakage next to knot??
I don't usually break-off fish so when I break-off four big ones--two exceptional browns last year and two huge rainbows this year--I'm a bit concerned. After all, I don't hook that many big ones and every one counts. The curious thing is that all four times the leader broke right next to the knot (...

Twin Island Campsite?
I recently learned that Twin Island Campsite has been sold from a post on another website. When I questioned if anyone knew who purchased it and what they intended to do with the property, the thread was taken over by the site jokesters and I was unable to find out anything. I know that it was looke...

Re: Synthetic parachute wing material?
I've also curious about Fish Skull Faux Bucktail but haven't seen any in person. It looks to me like it would make a good parachute clump wing among other things, and it comes in all the right colors. Anyone have any experience with this stuff, and how does it compare to regular bucktail which I hav...

Re: Synthetic parachute wing material?
I have no problem replacing a fly after it has taken a fish or two. My peeve is having to replace flies that never left the fly box compartments. I've gotten into hatch situations where I opened my fly boxes and couldn't find a decent-looking imitation to tie on. All that tying time and materials fo...

Re: Synthetic parachute wing material?
Bud: I suspect you are using something other than Para Post or the other coarse synthetic post/wing material I was using. Once that stuff starts frizzling it looks like a ball of monofilament and nothing I've tried can bring it back to the original shape. Applying heat actually melted the fibers! I ...

Re: Synthetic parachute wing material?
Thanks for the input guys, and your sample flies all look great! I have poly yarn and will try that until I can get to the store and buy some EP fibers which I'll also try. The stuff that's made specifically for parachutes looks great in the vise but eventually balloons out all over the place as you...

Synthetic parachute wing material?
I've had bad luck with synthetic parachute post (wing) material like Para Post and similar. The stuff frizzles and doesn't stay in the configuration of a nice neat upright may fly wing cluster. I imagine that condition is the result of summertime heat, and the flies bouncing around in compartment dr...
