Catskill summer rain

Post by Eperous »

Looks like some much needed summer rain fell today, and as often happens in these mountains, the intensity level of rainfall varied from location to location...

The Neversink below NYC's dam jumped up to 1,500 cfs at Bridgeville, the Esopus to a brown 3,000 cfs at Coldbrook, and Art Flick's Schoharie Creek got crushed reaching 12,000 cfs in Prattsville--- which was destroyed by Hurricane Irene in 2011... it seems the Beaverkill and both Branches of the Delaware were spared thus far...

Here's a shot of Nick Lyons' Saw Kill Creek in Woodstock, at a water falls...

I wish we'd get a little of that. Water levels up here are the lowest I can remember for this point in the season. Hay yields are half of what they should be and water temps are way up.

This is serious. I have a Schoharie Creek trib behind my house that's looking very angry. NOAA seems to be reporting that Wednesday night is when things might get really bad. Crossing my fingers. Yikes

Went looking for smallmouth bass with northcountryman yesterday on the main stem of the Delaware and the water was not too bad. A little dirty on the bank after a downpour but not too bad.
