Fly Fest 2019
Fly Fest 2019
Howdy all,
I hope everyone is off to a good start for winter....?!
If you are looking ahead to next years calendar, be sure to keep February 2nd open for our annual gathering at the CFFCM!
As usual, Fly Fest will be held the first Saturday in February which is also the day before the Super Bowl.
This annual event is a good way to "break the ice" and is the first event of 2019 at the Museum. This event is a great way to tie flies with a group. Nothing formal, just a gathering of tyers from all over the area and some from not so close. If you want to tie, socialize or get an early peak at the year's new exhibits, this is a good excuse to get out of the house.
A $5.00 entry fee will be collected at the door to be donated to the CFFCM.
Also, we will have a raffle involving the tiers to sweeten the museum donation pot a bit too!
Also, for all your food concerns, we will not have any catered lunches this year.... Feel free to check out any of the wonderful food establishments in the area or pack a lunch if you would like.
More information will be forthcoming! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!
Thanks, Rick

Happy New Year everybody!
Here's a quick pic from the first Fly Fest in 2006 to get you thinking about FF 2019.
It's only about a month away now!

Look at some of these young studs! There's CatskillJohn, Flymank, BobFly, BigJimCaddis, Upstate Trout, BruceC, Aaron, Go Irish, Zug Bug and more that I can't even identify..

Re: Fly Fest 2019
Curiously enough, Tom introduced me to Mike C at flyfest on the day of that photo.
That meeting started me into making cane rods.
Also got me an invitation to the Catskill White House, which also serves as Canazon’s primary home (does that make him president of the Catskills?)
Tom, Mike and I (and many others) spent a lot of time there, and had it not been for the both of them showing me around, introducing me to everyone and teaching me the lure of the area, who knows if I would have continued in this hobby.
Tom seemed to know everyone, man he taught me a bunch every trip up.
So I suppose it’s safe to say, Fly-fest is what started it for me
It’ll be great to see you all there
