Re: Fly Fest 2019
George, you have to be there, you're an original!!
A note to all who are coming over the mountain, through the dale, and up the Throughway:
Please drive safe and watch out for the other guy! Remember the lighting situation and number of outlets available in the Gallery is limited. Bring a tying lamp, extension cord and power strip if at all possible!!
Looks like the Weatherman/woman will be kind, temps expected close to 20 degs with 0 precip!!
Can't wait to see you all!! Will be a great turnout!!
Dette Trout Flies is our new sponsor, so I expect some nice goodies for the door prizes! Also, we will be raffling off 2 fly boxes of flies tied at FF. So, you have double the chance of winning. More money to help out the CFFCM

Re: Fly Fest 2019
FLY FEST 2019 WAS A BLAST!!!
Got home late last night, after riding/driving back home from attending Fly Fest 2019. My first time attending this winter festival of fly tying. It was a lot of fun hanging out with old friends and meeting some new ones.
Kudos to Rick, for organizing a great event. The huge turnout clearly shows there great interest in fly tying/fly fishing. I was happy to see so many young faces attending the event. They are the future of our beloved hobby.
Walking up to the Catskill Museum in the morning:

Bill Shuck (tie2fish) and Rick Fisher (quadfish) / left and right

William Anderson (left) and Bill Shuck/tie2fish (right)

The tables filled up quickly. A view of the tying tables/room.

Mike Valla (edge of photo /left), Tim Didas and Ed Ostapczuk,

Tim Didas in the olive short sleeve shirt / right side of table

Can you tell Dana is having fun?

Dana's hook collection

William demonstrating a dubbing block - making prespun bodies

Lance (standing) admiring William's results

William clowning around with Bill

Rick Axe talking with Bill Shuck

Lance brought some of his father's (Pete Hidy) tying materials

Dana Reed (left) demonstrating scotch hackling technique to Lance Hidy (right)

William Anderson

Lance Hidy demonstrates tying a flymph

Corner table (I don't know the names - just sharing a look around the room)

Tim and Ed have a nice conversation

Tim (sitting) teaching Forest (standing) how to tye a Grouse and Green soft hackle.

Dana tying.

Tom Mason came over to show me his set of hare dubbing. The ultimate hare's ear dubbing set for North Country spiders.

Tim Didas (kneeling) and Lance Hidy (sitting)

Rick and family running the raffle drawing (OUTSTANDING JOB GUYS!!!)

Student Fly Tying Club - Syracuse University

Sorry to go overboard on the photos. I just wanted to say thank you to Rick, and the sponsors of this event. It was my first time attending this event. I can see why this is such a well gathering. Hope to see you at next years gathering.

Re: Fly Fest 2019
I took a few photos too, but none were as good as Ray's so I'll spare you the exercise. However, William and I did have the opportunity to chase this sunset on our way home ...
