... No bobbins are used although Chase bobbins were around then. Suffer a bit, like the other Catskill-School tiers did LOL--

A complete list of sanctioned tools and materials is being updated. It's a lot of fun--
I'll be checking on that list... maybe us Noll "kids" will get some "considerations?"... :? :|
Ed is in luck!----Since Esopus Tier Ray Smith used a Chase Bobbin----that model is allowed! Or any model of that vintage (in existence in the mid-1960s of before)

I have two--- (So Ed can borrow one of mine)--and they're frequently available on Ebay. The Chase was the gold standard of bobbins---- (There's a pic of one in my Tying Catskill Style Dry Flies book
No need to borrow anything... I still have an old Chase bobbin I haven't used in decades, close to half-a-century now.... and plenty of Indian necks I paid less than $5 for each... true fly-tyers never depart with a single material that they might have once used, no matter how long ago... :o   :P

Maybe you should add a category for old materials, before all these modern day synthetics??? :?

Those were the days, IMHO, that boys tying trout flies wished to become men... like the Catskill giants that paved our way....

Isn’t that the truth!
Funny thing is, here we are 50 years later, still on the same quest :)

Actually, I'm more looking the other way, wishing I were a boy again.
