It is with great sadness that I report the passing of one of our own, a good friend to many of you, and a truly "gentle man", Aaron Hirschhorn (Survivor). As many of you know, Aaron, myself, and Jeff Sanders were close friends and fishing buds. Aaron suffered a debilitating stroke while doing what he loved the most... attending the Lancaster fishing show last week. He was a great friend, mentor, and giving individual.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.

I'm sure Jeff and I will have more to say when we gather our thoughts and this sinks in a bit. We will pass along any thoughts and comments posted here to his family.

Bruce... this is truly very sad news... as you noted, Aaron was a true gentleman in very sense of the word... he was very giving of himself and always there for others, a pure joy to be around... I knew Aaron since the 1980's when we were both involved with the NYS Council of TU... he will be sorely missed... my deepest condolences to Aaron's family, you, and Jeff... fly-fishing shows/events will never be the same without him...

Others have used the word "gentleman". I think that about sums it up - a quality all to rare in today's world. He was a gentleman, and it was my pleasure to know him just a little bit. He always made me feel welcome no matter where our paths crossed.

Very sorry to hear. Aaron was one of the first people I met when I first started attending the tying & fishing shows way back when. Always a friendly face in the crowd - we always managed to find each other at at the shows and have a nice chat as well as exchange emails over the years. As others have said, a true gentleman.

I am a better person for having known him, and I always enjoyed the conversations that we had at the museum. I wish that we could have fished together. Deepest condolences to his family, and friends.
