Dear Friends,
It is my sad duty to report, that our dear friend Mark Libertone (Soft-hackle) passed away this afternoon, after a long battle with cancer. Mark's son (Mark Junior) called me to convey the sad news. His son indicated that Mark passed way quietly around 3:45 PM, surrounded by family. Mark Junior gave me permission to post the news, letting you of his passing. I will stay in contact with Mark's family and will post updates when I find out details about his funeral.
If anyone wishes to send a card, send me a PM and I can provide their mailing address.
At the moment, I am at a loss for words. My heart goes out to Mark's family. Mark and I had become very close friends. I will miss him very much...
Respectfully,
Ray (letumgo) Tucker

I am so sorry to hear that. Mark was very kind and generous, but I knew he was fighting the illness for years.
We will certainly miss him, and his beautiful tying. He turned many onto the soft hackle, including me and I always enjoyed his company. CJ

This is quite upsetting.
Mark was a great wealth of knowledge, a fantastic tier and was more then willing to share both. He was a great person and will be greatly missed.

Ray, thank you for posting/sharing this very sad news... I met Mark many years ago, he is/was a super individual... Mark always freely shared information and he was a great source of knowledge, a true angling inspiration... his flies and artwork are first rate... my deepest condolences to his family, and many friends, at this difficult time...

Very sad news. I got to know Mark just a little bit through email when we worked on a GFF article on wingless wets - he was so generous and humble. What a wonderful man. May he be in peace now.

Yes, very sorry to hear it. I didn't know him but his posts were always most interesting, helpful and informative. As a matter of fact, he was the one who first got me interested in soft hackle "flymphs".
Rest in peace
