New rod.

Post by upstatetrout »

Recently I picked up this 8 ft. Model 50DF Tournament Leonard. The rod is in excellent +condition. I tried it with a five wt. and it casted just fine. Then I fished it with a Wulff bamboo taper 4 wt. and this rod sings.

Nice! The 50 DF is supposed to be the Leonard of Leonards, and the Tournament rod even better. I expect it is somewhat lighter than a standard 50 DF. Should be a great rod for summer in the Catskills! I've been fishing four weights myself. Perfect for low water!

Nice rod Tom - I’m curious: what reel are you using?

Wow, I'm jealous! I've always wanted one but can't afford it. So, I'm making a 50DF Tournament tapered rod.
