February blues... I mean bows

Wandered down to the Garden State today, where February air temps hit/broke the 50 degree mark... the little brook was seasonally low, cold, and peat-stained... a few midges were about, else it was dead... R.I.P. dead... still with a small Red-butt Conehead Woolly Bugger on point, with a #14 Pink Squirrel dropper, I almost--- not quite--- managed almost a dozen small wild bows...

How long till trout season opens in NYS? :?

Ed Thought about it every hour on the hour today , just couldn't get free . Hoping someone would post some results Thanks for sharing
If it has fins I want to catch it .

Wandered south to the Garden State yesterday, and caught a few wild brook trout on a #18 Dorato Hare's Ear, with a #20 Copper John dropper some 6" below....

that is one fat brookie, especially for this time of year! Im guessing due to the warm winter, food must be more abundant....
