Some recent brook trout

Post by Eperous » Sat Apr 28, 2018 7:26 pm

Winter in these mountains started early, and is hanging on late... :? with more snow in the forecast on the last day of April... :o creeks in the eastern Catskills are elevated and cold... fishing, no catching has been tough on me of late... hatches almost nonexistent except for a few Little Black Stoneflies and the odd Quill Gordon..

Duly noted below are a few wild brook trout that chose to eat Schwiebert's Epeorus Nymph, or another favorite--- a weight Muskrat Nymph...

Ed,
Very nice glad to see you got a few. Things should pop by end of week if no more rain.

I can promise you May 1st will be the end of winter; here in Chicago the forecast on Monday is 73; on Tuesday it's 77; and on Wednesday it's 79. That warm weather should reach you by the end of the week and bring life to the Hendricksons.

No brookies today, but a couple small wild browns on a #10 Martinez Black...

Welcome May!!! I don't think April, or winter, will be missed much in these mountains...

Seems to me that I can recall some complaining on this forum about lack of snow in the Catskills not too long ago ...
