How big was he the last time you saw him

"Gentlemen,remove your hats,this is it"
"This is where the trout was invented?"
"Oh he existed in a crude, primitive form in Waltons England"
"But this is where they painted spots on him and taught him to swim"

Was not expecting a fish of ole one eyes caliber on the willow....this Fisher was netless, cameraless, and the sole witness of ole one eyes visit .....he was fairly pooped due to his long fight and was quickly and quietly released back into his element...I hope to one day hear that he visits again.. .

one of the biggest , if not biggest fish I've seen up there was in the willow....it's still my favorite stream
Re: Old one eye
There was a one eyed warrior in Cairn’s pool for years........One of the major books even have a picture in it, I don’t remember which one though. But, a very large fish always takes up residence in the very same spot. Dana

It may have been an anecdote in one of Ray Bergman's books, I can't remember for sure, but I think he may have been fishing a dry fly over a rising fish, and could not get a take.
He cast and cast to one side of the big trout... never a response.
Then he changed position, put a drift that came down over the other side of the fish, and drew an immediate strike.
Upon landing the trout he realized it was blind in one eye and therefore could not see any of the offerings on that side.
I don't recall ever landing a blind trout but I have landed many with bite and claw and talon marks. Some fresh, some healed over from attacks by otters or mink or birds of prey.

Give a man a fly rod, a shotgun and a bird dog and he'll never be worth a d*mn.
