So.... I fished a favorite NJ wild trout creek today, and caught a half-dozen brookies... some on a #16 Adams, two on a #20 Copper John dropper 6 inches below the dry fly...
Friday calls for warm air temps, rain, and probably lots of snowmelt... in my mind, today was the day to fish, but with only a scant few midges about...
Got to love wild trout caught on dry flies, mid-March....

Awesome, I love catching Brookies on top, what time of day were you fishing?
Re: Mid-March Garden State brookies
My experience with winter trout fishing is it all depends upon: (1) air temps and (2) snow melt... typically I find best winter trout fishing between 10+ AM and 2 PM... if there's snow about, and warm air temps, the earlier the better, before snowmelt drops stream water temps and pH... without snowmelt an issue, afternoon tends to be better, when bug life starts moving....
To answer your specific question, last week I fished between 11:30 AM and almost 1 PM... about an hour-and-a-half when midges were active... then, I felt the need to return home and address some items needing my attention....
