Engine fault

Says the display on the dashboard...and it gives an annoying alarm every 30 second. So, had to go to the garage. Thankfully, the club lake, Lillesjön (that is Little Lake in English) is very close. So, the repairman kindly let me borrow a car so off I went, a bit too fast on the small roads, two hours before it gets dark.

Lovely autumn colors. Feeding fish, occasionally a mild breeze finds it ways down to the lake, despite all the tall trees. This is a put-and-take lake my club have. Rainbows and this year they out in trout. Nice place, never crowded, and you can try out your newest creations.

Decided on GO & Landrail (I posted the other day) for end fly and tied in the October Caddis above that.




All geared up. First cast. A bow takes the spider. Sweet. Reel in. Unhook. Next cast. The spider drops in the water. Before the caddis fly hits the surface a 40 cm bow decides to leave the water. He want to make sure he gets that nice looking fly before his brothers does. For sure he does. Gets is deep in his throat as well. He puts in a real fight. Wants to show off. For his brothers in the lake I guess.

I like it when the car breaks down.

Nice!! I see thats bascially still-water flyfishing at that lake right? Is your retrieve fast or fairly slow would you say and also, were you using sinking, sink tip or floating line?

Yes, stillwater fishing. It is a clear water lake, quite shallow (max depth 7,5 meter). An this lake always have rising fish, don't know why, but regardless of weather, fish are rising. Hence, I always fish floating line (sometimes slow sinking intermediate). S l o w retrieve of midge setup or a bit faster with spiders and caddis emergers or dries.

Thanks for the info; 1 other question if you will: How deep do you go down w/ your emergers and spiders? We talkin' absolute surface film or a little deeper?

In this lake I let the top fly lie in the surface film, the other a bit deeper.
