Here’s the Hendrickson emerger-I guess it didn’t post the first time.
Very nice, Dana. Mine don't look like yours so I'm going to steal your design...

What is wrong with the ol' hare's ear wing wet fly?

Or, even a Comparadun fished low in the water?

Did all the trout change what they want on the menu over the past few decades?

It is amazing over the centuries how we fly tiers keep morphing our patterns trying to find the perfect killing fly for a fish with a brain the size of a pea.

Don't forget to blend into your dubbing some urine-burned fox fur just for tradition.

I will be using a little zelon out of the butt of my Comparadun.

Well that sounds reasonable. I've tied LW Coachmen (one of my fav's) with a bit of ZLon (cream) peaking out from beneath the wings (like an under wing). I tend to think it captures an air bubble or some such and seems to work.

Matt's pic of his PT soft hackle reminded me a some flies I tied a couple weeks ago after receiving a Golden Olive dyed partridge skin from Dave Roberts of the Feather Emporium. Used Ginger colored pheasant tail fibesr and the Golden Olive partridge for this dressing.

Here's my version of a Hennie emerger:

Image

This one's a bit overdressed, but for the particular piece of water I fish it, I like it this way. This one's a bit chewed up too, so it appears fuller that it might otherwise be. The tail is pheasant; the body a mixture of pink red fox and bits of tying bench trimmings; shoulder is dun CDC, and the hackle either Woodcock or Red Grouse.
