Matched Duck Quills?

Post by Castaline »

Looking for really good quality matched duck quills for traditional wets. Found these at the old Somerset show a while back (unmarked except for pencil )and they were fantastic. Anybody know who were selling these or any other source for good quality stuff?

Don Bastian used to sell matched quills, but don't know if he still does.

Those pictured were Don’s. He graded, packaged and wrote with pencil on the backing paper.
Good ones are not easy to find, he had the best quality and assortment of colors.
Don’t hear from him much anymore, but he’s still around, just not involved in the show scene like he used to be. CJ

"Oh he existed in a crude, primitive form in Waltons England"
"But this is where they painted spots on him and taught him to swim"

I have a trusted seller of on Ebay duck feathers when the season is on. Last year I asked her if I could get some matched duck wings and offered her $3.00 a pair, she agreed and I have a lot of matched wood duck wings. Now white would be more difficult for her to obtain I would think.

best bet is either shoot your own - you get 8 primary & 10 secondary sets, MINIMUM.......LOADS of other feathers.......plus a duck dinner!!

another option...don't need matched. clip twice as much, flex fibers os ll tips re even and fibers are straight, fold in half and tie in.
