patterns that use red squirrel tail?

Post by corlay »

anyone have a favorite pattern to share that uses red squirrel tail?

my dad gave me a tail, and Id like to tie him some flies with it to use this fall.

I suppose i could work-up some Red Picket Pins,
(seems plausible, right?)
but am curious about other ideas.

Thanks!

In addition to the typical Picket Pin tied with gray squirrel, Picket Pins tied with a wing of red squirrel tail have been popular for decades on the trout and bass ponds of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Sometimes I use it instead of brown bucktail in a Warden's Worry...

Not the case, here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5108&hilit=warden%27s

... but I think you get the idea... good tying with your find...
