Here's a Dette Lady Beaverkill. Did Walt ever tie on barbless hooks? I've been told Winnie did, but would like more opinions/facts from you guys.

If that's a Dette tied fly, it must have been a special order, on barbless.
By the looks of it, if that's a Dette-tied fly, it is very probable it was tied very late in their [ W&W] career.

Thanks Mike. My customer has many Dette flies that were tied on barbless hooks. The original owner (from Emmaus, PA) ordered from the Dettes on a regular basis and probably requested barbless as you stated. His documentation (not direct from the Dettes, but photos of his own - see attached) shows many of the barbless flies were tied by Walt. If you'd like, I can post others or email you some.

Here's another example. I'm not sure which Dette tied these White Wulffs, but they are all barbless. The thick bodies in the middle would lead me to believe Winnie tied them, but again, you guys know a TON more than I do at this stage of my Catskill fly education/fetish.
