Blue Quill Fan Wing

Post by David S. »

In Mike Valla's latest magnum opus (great book by the way) something caught my eye. In the section on Rube Cross there's a picture of a very beautiful Blue Quill Fan Wing , the fly is tied by Cross but I'm not sure if Cross is the originator of the pattern. I'm guessing the basis for the fly outdates him by quite a bit, as far as I can tell from other literature it's basically a fan-winged version of the Quill Gordon, nevertheless it sure is a beautiful pattern :)

Thanks Ed, I can't say I fish them a lot myself but they sure look pretty. I think I'll have to give them a go next summer :)
