Study in picric olive (Spiders)

I recently dyed a Hungarian Partridge with Picric. Did a few classic spider variants tonight.

All flies tied on Mustad R70 size 16

The first one is tied with Olive Gossamer silk, gold wire rib and two turns of hackle with one side stripped.

For this one the wire rib is excluded and a thorax with seal dyed picric is added.

Change of thread to Sherry Spinner, that is the old 6b thread. Goes really well with the hackle. Two photos with white and black background.

This one doesn’t look that pretty, but might do well as a caddis pupa. Picric seal in split thread.

Enjoy and please comment.

Very nice work, and the photos really make them pop. I can't seem to take a good pic of a small fly like this.

Nice, Martin. Great job with the dying, the flies, as well as the photography.

Don't worry. It will explode before you accidentally drink it.
