Mayfly Nymph

Some call them Bottom Dredgers. They are too often over shadowed by the dry fly, but have their place here.

Hook: Fly383 #12
Thread: Uni 8/0
Weight: Adhesive lead foil thorax area
Tail: 3 pheasant tail fibers
Abdomen: Ostrich herl covered with 3 pheasant tail fibers
Wing case: Pheasant tail fibers & fine flex for strengthens
Thorax: Master dub tan
Legs: Hen pheasant fibers

You can change this pattern by using different colors

I really like that. I have used ostrich herl on the abdomen of my Green Drake nymph, but can see that it should work to simulate gills on others as well.

P.S. A side view of your fly would be much appreciated too.
